Jacket Style BC's

Dacor RAV

In the category of Jacket style BC's we are bery big on the Dacor RAV. For such a good price, you get a solid performing BCD that has even been designated as a Best Buy from dive gear testers.

The reasons for such strong reviews are:

1) The BC has an extensive strap adjustment which can make the fit more flexible.

2) Their molded jacket design allows more stability as you go deeper underwater. In fact, when you crank on the air, there is hardly any body squeeze, even on the surface.

3) Its power inflator has received high marks for buoyancy control, which is what we are really paying for.

4) Last but not least, the Dacor Rav is extremely easy to strap on to the tank.

Although this BCD may not have the bells and whistles of other high profile BCs, it has been rated very well by divers. Like the Dacor Rav, the power inflator is very solid as it makes ascent control and balancing your buoyancy very easy. Even though the padding is not as extensive as in others, the BCD bladder inflates away from the body, thereby preventing a body squeeze.

Last but not least, the Mares Vector has two big pockets and roomy sleeves to store your consoles and accessories.

Genesis Cobra:

This last BCD in the Jacket Style category is also recommended because of its good padding, and  no body squeeze. Like the Vector Origin, this is also tested to be stable at depth, and has very good ascent control from its ergonomic power inflator.

Back Buoyance BC's

If you have a preference for back buoyancy BC's, then you should seriously consider the Mares Synco Power BCD. Although, this certainly has a more bulkier design than most BC's, don't let that fool you. Because of the ergonomic inflator, there is an efficient amount of buoyancy control. Also, exhaust valve will dump excess air very seasily. There is also very good padding, so there is not a lot of squeeze.

Zeagler Ranger BCD's:
The Zeagler ranger BCD has a "rough and tough" image in the diving world. First of all, it comes  standard with a 44 pound lift-capacity bladder. In fact, they also have lift capacity bladders that are heavier than 65 pounds as options. Also, padding is minimal, so it may not be as comfortable as some of the other BCD's.

At the same time, its inflator valve is very comfortable in the hand and is instrumental in fine-timing your buoyancy.

BC's for Women..

As more and more women are diving these days, gear manufacturers have started desigining gear specifically for them.

We have identified two BCDS that we think will suit them very well.

Mares Dragonfly:

This BCD is popular among women because they love the comfort and fit. This is because of the lumbar padding and the shoulder swivel buckles. The padding and the buckles improve the strap routing, whereas the expandable rear bladder contributes to a comfortable ride at the surface and deep underwater. The power inflator, which is an instrumental in controlling your buoyancy, is ergonomically designed to fit a women's
hand.

This BCD has received rave reviews in the diving world. It has two features that are working very well in making it one of the better BCDs. It has an over-molded backpack design and is made of duroskin cordura nylon. These two features allow for superior interior comfot and prevention from exterior bumps and scrapes. Stabilty and control are top-notch as the power inflator is instrumental in fine-tuning your buoyancy. Like the Mares Dragonfly, the inflator is designed for the woman in mind.
