Trying to find out what is so special about HID scuba lights as opposed to other underwater lights?

HID lights are bright white scuba lights, usually powered by Alkaline batteries, that actually appear to be blue underwater and make the other underwater lights appear to be yellow. According to Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine, the lights penetrate water further because the water absorbs the red and yellow end of the spectrum more than the blue.

Whenever you are shopping for HID scuba lights or any other type of underwater lights, make sure to look for the following features…

They are waterproof

Must be usable at depth

Have idiot proof battery replacement.

Have either a pistol or a lantern grip.
