Regulator recommendations

The Dacor Viper America has been rated very well in the diving industry for a variety of reasons:

1) First, the alternate air system is positioned so that both you and your partner can esaily use the second stage of the regulatgor without changing positions.

2) Another plus for the regulator is that for a high performance reg, the regulator has had fewer instances of bubble interferences than other regs of its caliber.

3) Finally, the pivoting reflector in the mouthpiece does an excellent job of aiming the air at your mouth when inhaling and away from your mouth during exhale. Remember ease of breathing is the most important thing when looking for a regulator.

Because of its solid performance in dive test, the V16 Epos by Mares has a solid reputation amongst divers. Essentially, the regulator ranks very highly in breathing performance on human tests. Beyond the important breathing feature, it has one of the most user friendly purges among all regulators. People that have rented cheap regulators in Carribean countries will definitely appreciate this.

Mares V16 Orbiter

You can expect a similiar level of performance from the V16 orbiter as it is also made by Mares. It is named an "Orbiter" because of a Mesh grid system around the coverplate which is supposed to improve the performance of the regulator. Also, the Orbiter has a valve that is made of titanium which will make the regulator last longer.

Genesis Yukon(Best regulator for the money)

If you are on a budget(which most people are when shopping for scuba diving gear), the Genesis Yukon will definitely come to the rescue. It's mouthpiece has been labelled 'orthodontic' in various reviews, which makes even the most experience divers intrigued.
Scuba Labs called it an "excellent performer at a great price."

What we liked most about the Genesis Yukon is its ability to consistently perform well at depths of over 100 feet on air delivery and ease of breathing. If you are a recreational diver, this one should make your short list.
