Looking for scuba dive masks? Here are a few important characteristics to look among scuba masks
|
Dive masks are often an underrated item in the shopping list of many scuba divers. However, to truly enjoy your underwater experience, having a good mask is critical. But before you go and spend as much as $150.00 for a pair of dive masks, make sure to look at the following features..
The dive mask should fit very well around your face and have a seal that keeps the water out. A non-fitting mask will eventually start leaking..
Low Volume mask. A good way to check if a mask is low volume is to see if the nose pocket extends beyond the glass. High volume scuba diving mask can take in more water than a low volume one. However, less volume can make a mask squeeze less of a problem. Plus, with a low volume mask, it easier to clear the mask when it floods with water.
Wraparound functionality. This gives a diver much more visibility as the scuba mask will have clear glass on the sides as well as the front.
Flexible nose pocket. The diver should be able to touch his nose and squeeze it. This allows you to equalize the air pressure as you go deeper underwater.
Tempered glass. A tempered glass is more resistant to shattering than regular glass. Most dive masks are made of tempered glass. Don't even think about buying one that isn't tempered.
